Afghanistan is facing a major crisis as result of drought and conflict. Close to half of the country’s rural population is severely food insecure. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is calling for urgent help to support farmers with seeds and animal feed for the upcoming winter season.

Dominique Burgeon, the Director of FAO’s Emergency and Rehabilitation Division, shares his impressions about his recent mission to the city of Herat, in Afghanistan’s drought-affected western province.
