That more revelation results in more significant judgment, it is essential to understand that not all judgments are created equally. In developing a theology of eternal judgment, there are degrees of punishment in the Lake of Fire. A more harsh punishment will be given to those who receive and reject God’s Word than those who did not receive and reject It. Consider the contrast between Capernaum and Sodom. On the surface, Capernaum was moral, and Sodom was immoral. However, from God’s judicial viewpoint, Capernaum’s rejection of Jesus was worse than Sodom’s homosexuality. The fire of judgment burns hotter for the unrepentant than for the immoral!
