Psalm 127 is sings of the joy of dependence on God. According to the superscription, Solomon is the author. He meditates on the truth that everything comes from God’s hands. For example, God breathed into man the breath of life. Had God not given humanity breath, humanity would be an inanimate husk of flesh. God also redeemed humanity to give them new life. He did for humanity what humanity could not do for themselves. To think that everything comes from God — the good and even the bad — ought to give believers joy. Though, it is easy to be joyful in the good things, believers must still rejoice in the bad things. Believers can rejoice in the bad, knowing that God gives no more than what His children can bare. That all things ultimately come from God, means that believers should be dependent upon Him. Dependency upon God results in joy, because God never ceases to provide for His people.
