Today’s theme: Summer outdoor music festivals
Today, festivals are associated with wristbands, hashtags, vip tents, and paying an exorbitant amount of money for a bottle of water...but they haven’t always been like this. While we have examples of mass gatherings of revelry and worship from nearly all ancient cultures, including the notorious Dionysian celebrations of Bacchus, the actual word festival didn’t enter the English language until the 1500s where it was derived from the word feast and centered around harvests.
