Today’s theme: School violence

A series of brutal violence amongst teenagers in Korea have sent shock waves across the country in recent weeks. Juvenile crimes took the spotlight when video footage of a 14-year-old middle schoolgirl from Busan being assaulted by a group of peers went viral. In response, there have been mounting calls for the country to abolish the juvenile crime law and give teenagers the same treatment as adults when it comes to receiving punishment.

Professor Lee Chang-Hoon (???)
Department of Police Administration at Han Nam (??) University

“Juvenile crimes have been spotlighted for its horrendousness - what's your thought on scrapping the juvenile act, and by that scrapping the protection they have from criminal punishments?”

&

Professor Daniel Weddle
Clinical professor of law at University of Missouri-Kansas

“With teenage bullying getting more cruel, some people here argue that we should scrap or reduce the legal protection teenage assailants have as minors. How much will it help actually preventing the crime, though?”

&

Professor Shin Dong-hee (???)
School of Media and Communication at ??(Chung Ang) University

“When we look at the messages that the bullies exchanged through smartphones or SNS, they show little sign of remorse or regret. Do you think it has anything to do with the social media and the echo chamber it creates?”

>>>A Few Minutes with Amos

I don’t believe that aliens exist.
I was talking to my friend and she told me that she believed in aliens because she saw lights in the sky one time.
I said “SUUUUUUURRREE you did”
She said “Why don’t you believe me?”
I said “I believe that YOU believe in aliens, I accept that. But you should also accept that I don’t believe you.”
