Jacqueline Wedick, a teacher at Wasatch Elementary School,"embraces the weird and makes it cool. She embraces diversity and makes it acceptable. She will break into foreign accents halfway through class to liven it up, and is never afraid to make a fool of herself for the sake of education"writes Kristy Sevy, mother of Kenzie, a student of Miss Wedick's.

Kristy goes on to say that"Miss Wedick has been my daughter's teacher for two years now (my daughter Kenzie is convinced Mrs. Wedick loved her so much that she moved from 2nd grade to 3rd). How many parents can say that for two years straight their child has never come home to talk about bullying or teasing? When I have asked my daughter about teasing she always responds the same:"Miss Wedick's class just isn't like that, we are all friends."

Miss Wedick receives a special recognition award from Zions Bank, an overnight stay at the Anniversary Inn, dinner for two at the Roof Restaurant downtown, and two season passes to the Hale Center Theater. At the end of the year, one lucky teacher will win the lease of a new car provided by Burt Bros. Tire and Service.

KSL NewsRadio and Zions Bank are proud to honor Utah's best teachers with the KSLTeacher FeatureAwards! Since 1994, Teacher Feature has highlighted outstanding teachers throughout the State of Utah. Winning teachers are announced every Tuesday morning, September through June, on Utah's Morning News with Brian&Amanda.
