Indian cities focus excessively on cars, bikes and motorised vehicles. It is difficult to walk comfortably in a city like Bengaluru, and more difficult to ride a cycle. Can we rethink how we use our road and footpath space, and put pedestrians and cyclists first?

Sathya Sankaran joins Pavan Srinath on Episode 41 of the Thale-Harate Kannada Podcast to talk about how non-motorised transport needs new thinking, behaviour, policy, infrastructure, action and more.

Sathya Sankaran is the honorary 'Bicycle Mayor' of Bengaluru, a tactical urbanist and an active transport evangelist. He has been instrumental in “Cycle Day” and “Commuter Rail” campaigns and is currently championing policy interventions like Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority and Active Transport policy. He is a computer science graduate and an alumnus of the Post Graduate in Public Policy programme at the Takshashila Instution. He co-founded the non-profit CiFoS - Citizens For Sustainability, and UrbanMorph. He is also the architect of technology platforms which enable Data-driven decision making at Mapunity.
