Award-winning director and screenwriter Abhaya Simha discusses filmmaking in Kannada and Tulu film industries and shares his own journey and work style.

On Episode 104 of the Thale-Harate Kannada Podcast, Abhaya talks to hosts Pavan and Ganesh about how his filmmaking journey started, from early days in Mangalore to college at FTII, Pune, to working on films across Kannada, Malayalam, and Tulu. He gives a mini-masterclass on various aspects of creating a film and walks listeners through his process. Abhaya also shares his thoughts on how people can make careers in South Indian cinema, and tells us more about the vibrant Tulu film and entertainment industry.

Abhaya Simha is a film director and screenwriter. Studying at film direction and the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), he started his film career in 2007. Debuting with Gubbachchigalu in 2008 (winning National Award for the best children's film), he wrote and directed Shikari in Kannada and Malayalam in 2011, Sakkare in 2013, and the Tulu film Paddayi in 2018.
