Kannada and Kannadigas have suffered from an illegal, unconstitutional ban on dubbing into Kannada, that is over 50 years old. The dubbing ban has been steadily contested by a #DubbingBeku movement, where multiple films have finally been dubbed into Kannada, and a dubbed movie was released in over 100 theatres in the state in 2018.
