Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy presented the first full budget of his coalition government in Karnataka, on February 8th. The state plans to spend over 2.34 lakh crore rupees this year -- over 34,000 rupees per resident! 50% larger than the Union budget per person, and the state government's mandate covers all things that matter to our daily lives, from water and health to roads and transport to agriculture.

Ganesh Chakravarthi talks to Pavan Srinath to unpack the Karnataka budget. They discuss where Karnataka gets its revenues from, how much importance is given to Bengaluru, health challenges and more. Pavan has been working on budgets for the past several years at the Takshashila Institution, and also hosts The Pragati Podcast.
