ನಮಾಮಿ ವೃಷಭಾವತಿ ಚಳುವಳಿಯು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ಸಹಜವಾಗಿ ಶುದ್ಧ ನೀರುಳ್ಳ ನದಿಯೊಂದನ್ನು ಕಾಣುವ ಜನಸಾಮಾನ್ಯರ ಕನಸನ್ನು ನನಸಾಗಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಡೆದಿರುವ ಹೋರಾಟ. ಈ ಹೋರಾಟದ ಹಲವು ಆಯಾಮಗಳೆಂದರೆ: ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ, ಆಡಳಿತಗಾರರು ಮತ್ತು ಸರ್ಕಾರಗಳಿಗೆ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆ, ಕಾನೂನಾತ್ಮಕ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ, ನಾಗರಿಕರಿಗೆ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಹಾರಗಳ ಅರಿವನ್ನು ಮೂಡಿಸುವುದು ಹಾಗು ಕೆರೆ-ಕಾಡುಗಳ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆ.

ನಮಾಮಿ ವೃಷಭಾವತಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ನಿವೇದಿತ ಸುಂಕದ್ ರವರು ಈ ಚಳುವಳಿಯ ಮುಂಚೂಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವವರು. ರಾಜರಾಜೇಶ್ವರಿನಗರದ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಾದ 'ಐ -ಕೇರ್ ' ನ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟೀ ಮತ್ತು ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ, ಅರಣ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆರೆಗಳ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ದುಡಿದಿರುವವರು.

Vrishabhavathi was once a seasonal river rising from Malleswaram and Basavanagudi, the heart of Bengaluru. Today it's a series of polluted, filthy drains and lakes. Namami Vrishabhavathi  is a citizen-driven campaign with a vision of having a clean and natural river flowing in the heart of Bengaluru. The campaign combines deep technical research, advocacy with the state and city governments to implement new programs, legal efforts to improve enforcement of pollution laws, and the creation of a movement among residents of the Vrishabhavathi valley to improve solid waste and sewage management, as well as to bring together lake rejuvenation effort. Niveditha Sunkad  is the President of the Namami Vrishabhavathi Foundation, currently driving the “Save Vrishnabhavathi Nadi” campaign. She is also a trustee of RRNagar - I Care, a citizens’ forum in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, and is actively involved with waste management, forest and lake conservation efforts in the area.

Prakash M Kanive  is a Trustee of the Namami Vrishabhavathi Foundation, and looks at data management and geospatial application and has been instrumental in mapping the catchment, as well as the overall land use and land cover of the Vrishabhavathi Valley. He also works at Eco Spatial Solutions, Bengaluru and is a widely published researcher.
