QUICKFIRE NEWS

Activision Blizzard. Raven Software (subsidiary of Activision) has laid off one-third of its QA department, despite Call of Duty bringing in $3B in 2020. AB will keep its nominations, but will not be present at the Game Awards. Additionally, Attorney Lisa Bloom and current employee Christine held a press conference at the Irvine campus to describe Christine’s experiences with sexual harassment at the company.

Final Fantasy XIV. As expected, Endwalker’s early access suffered from excessively long login queues, servers running at max capacity, and lobby errors that forced players back into the queue.

Ubisoft. Ubisoft Quartz will launch in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Quartz will use Tezos and connect to a user’s crypto wallet to allow the purchase of “Digits” - in-game items like weapons, vehicles, and cosmetics, that are artificially scarce and have serial numbers attached to them.

Tesla. Recent over-the-air update allows drivers to play games from Tesla Arcade while the car is in drive, leading to formal complaints to the NHTSA.
