Podcast Review: Escape Pod's Friction by Will McIntosh - a podcast by ApocD

I listen toEscape Pod, a weekly science fiction podcast, on my runs in the park near my apartment. I find that listening to Escape Pod while running allows me to concentrate on the story; it's much easier to focus in a park than on a crowded train. The problem is the length of my run is often dictated by the length of the episode. Shorter episodes, please, Steve! (ok, not really)

The story posted on February 8th wasFrictionby Will McIntosh. This story absolutely blew me away. I won't give away the details here, but the story follows a main character who is in a race against time and friction to complete a task. It's set on another world with non-human characters. The writing is clear, with just enough description; Mr. McIntosh seems to understand that readers have imaginations, too.

The writing in this story, to be totally movie cliche, makes me want to write better. It's also inspired me to try more stories set on other worlds. It's definitely worth a listen.
