Media Manipulation: Selective Outrage - a podcast by Jon Towers

As part of our Media Manipulation series we examine the “separating families at the boarder” meme that has been so prevalent in the mainstream media, on social media and with celebrities in recent weeks. We take a look back at similar headlines and seemingly unnoticed, forgotten or ignored stories from mainstream media outlets from 2014 and 2015 and wonder sarcastically why does everyone care so much about this now? From holding minor foreign nationals for months without charges, to giving Mexican kids away to slavers the past administration seems to have gotten this as wrong or even more wrong. But the outrage was not manufactured until a few weeks ago.
