The hashtag #OscarsSoWhite led to a reckoning in Hollywood about diversity in the film industry and certainly in who gets nominated for prestigious awards. The movement sparked conversations about how the Black experience is depicted in arts and culture and why it's important that those portrayals be multidimensional and accurate.
