Ontario's virus numbers have steadily decreased, more people are vaccinated with at least one dose, many others have had two jabs. While the Delta variant has taken hold in some parts of the province, there is still a palpable excitement in the air about a slow return to normal. But how close are we really to some of the scenes of "freedom" we're seeing south of the border at concerts and sports events? When can we abandon our masks? How do we mingle in groups of fully, partially, and non-vaccinated people? And what about those who have not yet, or won't be able to be vaccinated? We've gathered three experts to answer these and more questions that are starting to swirl around Ontario's accelerated vaccine program: Zain Chagla, Infectious Diseases Physician at St. Joe's Hamilton / Associate Professor at McMaster University; Ashleigh Tuite, infectious disease epidemiologist and math modeler at the University of Toronto; and Maria Sundaram, postdoctoral fellow at ICES.
