A poet and Giller Prize-winning novelist, Ian Williams's words explore the inner workings of life, family, love. But though his life's work is literature, he finds himself drawn into the politics of race. He talks to Nam Kiwanuka about his new non-fiction book, "Disorientation: Being Black in the World," shortlisted for the 2021 Hilary Weston Writers' Trust Prize. Williams is also an associate professor of English at the University of Toronto.
