Chase Owens was slated to challenge the “Modern Day Hero” Kevin Douglas to a match for the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Championship.  Although he  is now known as  the Crown Jewel of the Bullet Club, then Owens was called the “Real Deal.” A Wrestling prodigy that lived up to his name in every sense of the word.  Mentored by Ricky Morton, Owens had faced off against Douglas as the finals of the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Tournament “Revival” roughly a year before this content. Douglas wasn't able to defend the title and it was decided that Matt Conard, Zac Vincent, and Owens would battle for the Championship.  Owens would go on to win that title. Owens would become a three-time NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion. Owen’s prowess impressed the New Japan front office, who would hire him to compete in New Japan back in 2014 and he wouldn’t look back.

On this episode of From the Vault, the Alliance Guys Podcast speak at length with Chase Owens who at the time was becoming a breakout star for NWA Smoky Mountain (Innovative Pro Wrestling).  We would talk about his mentorship with Ricky Morton, his feud with Matt Sigmon, and the showdown that never was.
