It’s the morning after and Alice has apologised to the police for throwing the brick through the shop window, and also offered to pay for repairs. They can draw a line under it unless Jim or Susan decide to take it further.

Jazzer thinks Jim’s still in shock but Jim insists he’s fine. Alice wants to apologise to Jim but Jazzer tells her to stick her sorry back where it came from. Jim thinks Jazzer should have been more sympathetic and reminds him how understanding he and Alistair were when Jim was going through a rough time. Jazzer thinks Alice’s situation is different. He’s seen what happens when drink takes over and they’re not going to help Martha by being soft on Alice.

Neil points out that the shop will need to be cleared of shattered glass. Brian offers to pay for all the damages but they agree it’s more than windows that need mending. Brian asks if Susan or Jim will press charges. He doesn’t know if Alice would cope if that was added to her struggle to get her family back together.

Neil calls round to tell Alice that they won’t be pressing charges, and they’ll accept Brian’s offer to pay for the damage. Alice intends to pay her dad back – but still feels she deserves to be punished. Neil just hopes they can all get the old Alice back. Jennifer takes a phone call and Alice panics that it’s Chris to say something’s wrong with Martha. But it’s not. It’s Social Services.
