Jerry is joined by IBM Distinguished Engineer, CTO of IBM Application Platforms, and a Founding Father of the WebSphere Application Platform, Dr. Ian Robinson. Jerry and Ian discuss the story of Java, from its beginnings at Sun Microsystems, to its role today as the platform for an enduring software development ecosystem of languages, runtime platforms, open source projects, and much more. Ian explains how the Internet as we know it today, would simply never have existed without Java. He then elaborates on Automation and AI's role in Java with examples from real operations, IT, and other enterprise teams. They close by exploring a new game-changing technology (which combines Java and AI-powered Automation) that is taking monolithic applications and increasing their agility by breaking them down into smaller microservices.
