On this episode of Athlete's advocate, I sit down with former University of North Texas volleyball superstar and professional athlete, Amanda Chamberlain. While she had a stellar resume on the court, she had some concerns off the court with her academics and career after retirement. During this episode, Amanda talks about the importance of internships and the lack of opportunities there for athletes to get their foot in the door during their college athletic careers, how winning championships and conference titles is great, but doesn't equate to real work experience or help you get the job. How she has experienced programs take away scholarships from student-athletes that are realistic about their future's, the NCAA needing to get involved to help student-athletes, and how critical it is to advocate for yourself in this space at all levels.
