From a family which ran a pasta factory at Secondigliano near Naples in Italy, Cajetan Errico became a diocesan priest in 1815 and was a schoolteacher for twenty years. Then he experienced a vision of St. Alphonsus Liguori, who instructed him to build a church dedicated to our Lady of Sorrows in his native village and to found a new religious congregation dedicated to mission work. he did both, and the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary was founded in 1836. It is now international in scope. Bl. Cajetan died at Secondigliano and was canonized in 2008.
