The Galaxy Gang is all here and we have these topics for you on this edition of Galaxy Moonbeam Night Site: First we talk about Cold War Movies. Hollywood has always mirrored the fears, fantasies, and interests of the public, and in the period from the 1950s to the 1980s, a number of movies related to the Cold War and the possible threat of nuclear attack were made. Among them Fail Safe, and Dr. Strangelove. George Haloulakos guides us through this interesting genre of films. Next, we talk about Payola, the pay-for-play music scandal of the 1950s. We come to learn all about this scandal, and also that pay-for-play incidents like this go back to the 1800s! As well as continuing on well after the Alan Freed Payola scandal. Mike B and Mike Z handle this topic. Finally Smitty has the obituary segment for us as we remember some legendary individuals in the world of music and entertainment who have recently left us. We also have a tribute to Dick Clark and Donna Summer. Our Retro-Commercials are very musical this time, the first for Chase and Sanborn Coffee, and the second for Ford voiced by the Four Lads. Come on in and join us on Galaxy Moonbeam Night Site!
