On this episode of Galaxy Moonbeam Night Site, we look back to the iconic cartoons of the 1950s and 60s. Such well-remembered characters as Woody Woodpecker, Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Chilly Willy, and Heckyll and Jekyll, just to name a few. We recall many of these cartoons as fodder for our Saturday morning TV watching, but some of them had antecedents prior to the Second World War. They evolved during the war to help sell war bonds and keep morale up. During the cold war, they continued to entertain and in so doing went from adult-level humor to humor that kids could understand. All in all a fun look back at these iconic cartoons. Next, George Haloulakos tell us about his latest book titled: "Call to Glory - How the Convair B-58 Hustler helped win the Cold War". This book, written for a general audience, is an oral history of the 1960s through the prism of this renowned aircraft. George tells us about this time period, in particular the Cuban Missile Crisis, and how this craft was a show of force for the United States. It's a fascinating read, and we also tell you how you can order a copy for yourself! Our Retro-Commercial is for the 1966 Chevelle SS 396.
