We Recall Movie Star Screen Couples of the Past, and, Scholastic Book Club - a podcast by Smitty, Mike, and The Galaxy Gang

This episode of Galaxy Moonbeam Night Site features a story on Great Movie Star Screen Couples of the past. We all have our favorite screen couples from the golden age of cinema, and we look back at some of them. Who are your favorites? Maybe Bogie and Bacall, William Powell and Myrna Loy, or perhaps Clark Gable and Jean Harlow. Whoever your favorites are, we'll remember them here, and also look back at why they were so appealing in those great films we know and love. Next we look back at Scholastic Books. Do you remember when you were in school, and you could order books from the Scholastic Book Company? Once or twice a year, the students were invited to order books from a catalog and everyone waited for the big day when the teacher would have the big box of books on the desk and hand out those books that everyone waited weeks to receive. For many, this instilled a love of reading that remains to this day. We also look back at some of the popular publications for young people from back in the day such as "My Weekly Reader", and "Highlights for Children". Finally we look at some of the electric and metal toys of the 50s and 60s. We look back at the electric football and hockey games that were prevalent back then. We also look back at the Easy Bake Oven, and how little girls would bake cakes and goodies in those little ovens that inspired a whole generation of cooks and bakers.
