PHIL LAAK
Phil Laak likes to have fun at the poker table. He is identifiable by his signature gray hooded sweat-shirt, given to him by Gus Hansen. Do not be surprised if Laak is lying on the ground doing push-ups, or standing behind the dealer to be the first to see the cards. He was born in 1972 in Dublin, Ireland. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a degree in mechanical engineering, and began playing poker in California. He has 12 major cashes, including a win in the 2004 World Poker Tour Invitational. He finished second in the 2005 $2,500 pot-limit hold’em World Series of Poker event. In 2006, he finished fifth in the Seneca World Poker Classic. He has also been featured on NBC’s Poker After Dark. He is dating fellow poker player and actress Jennifer Tilly.


ANTONIO ESFANDIARI
Antonio Esfandiari, born on Dec. 8, 1978, in Tehan, Iran, has become a crowd favorite. Also known as “The Magician,? Esfandiari made the transition from professional illusionist since the age of 19 to poker professional. He won the 2004 World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic, receiving nearly $1.4 million at the age of 25. He became the youngest person ever to win a televised World Poker Tour event, as well as the youngest poker player to win a million-dollar prize. He also won a World Series of Poker bracelet in the 2004 $2,000 pot-limit hold’em event. He finished third in the 2005 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship, winning $125,000. Esfandiari is now a member of the UltimateBet team.
