Bernie Sanders has yet again, captured the imagination of the American Left. Just as before, he has throngs of adoring supporters at his events. Just as before, he will be cheated out of the nomination and the aged, diseased Democratic Party will ram its corporate hack nominee down our throats with the imbecilic chant, “Any blue will do.” I get into a bit of Sanders past; his wretched foreign policy gaffes, his caucusing with Democrats 98% of the time and voting on defense spending since 1990 and more. Even if there’s a President Sanders, without a mandate, he’ll be beaten from the beginning. The system is due for an overhaul and he is not the mechanic. As Chris Hedges has said, “…no genuine grass-roots movement will ever be born within the bowels of the Democratic Party establishment, which is currently attempting to shut down Sanders to make sure its anointed candidate is the nominee.” Even he’s even too much for them and he’s not fighting.
