How do you feel about being interrupted? You are cooking a meal, working on the computer, reading a book, scrolling on Facebook and bam someone interrupts you.

Perhaps it’s a phone call or a child tugging or an email or the doorbell. It’s easy to be annoyed because interruptions can be irritating - you want to do what you are doing!

Jesus was constantly being interrupted.  Nicodemus interrupts to talk at night. Blind Bartimaeus interrupts with a holler to be healed. A woman coming for water interrupts his rest by a well. His own mother interrupts during a wedding reception.

In these and countless other moments we see the grace, power, and mercy of our Lord shining through the very interruption. For Jesus, the interruption was an invitation – an invitation to serve the person or people who were interrupting.

To see the interruptions in your life as invitations to serve means getting over yourself and giving yourself to the people in your life!

“Then came one of the rulers of the synagogue... Jairus and seeing Jesus, he fell at his feet and implored him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death… and Jesus went with him.” Mark 5

Your interruptions are your invitations.
