With all of the uncertainty and anxiety of these days, it is easy to lose sight of our real source of a future and a hope.
The minor prophet Habakkuk offers a wonderful word for our present day:
Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, YET I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3:17-18

Yet combines the ideas of “at this time and nevertheless.” So, if at this time it’s raining while nevertheless the clouds are parting, we would say, “It’s raining, YET, the clouds are parting!

Yet is a wonderful word of hope! God is a “yet” God and we are a “yet” people. When life is challenging, remember the yet! Yet offers the word of faith that affirms our Lord’s care even when life “at this time” seems uncertain.

In the midst of the unknowns and anxieties in your life, trust yourself to the God who loves you.
