Game of the Show: Monster Train

Published by Shiny Shoe, MSRP $25, Buy on Humble (Partner Link)

So this game popped up on many “Best games of 2020” lists for a lot of people I value their opinion and just by looking at gameplay for Monster train I was certain I’m not going to like it - the graphics are straights up Adobe Flash game, the soundtrack and effects are kinda basic so the whole outer package didn’t look appealing.

HOWEVER, I ended up getting it just because I proved myself wrong before (Invisible Inc. never forget) and I’m happy to say I was dead wrong this time as well - Monster Train is great!* (in every way outside of the outer package things).

The gameplay loop is what makes monster train a great game that I keep coming back to and replaced Slay the Spire in the “need a quick deck builder roguelike fix”. The “clans'' and “heroes” system makes each round feel fresh and even though the enemies are kind of lackluster I’m really excited for the future of the game.

News: Anthem development is officially cancelled

EA cancels Anthem’s big revamp but will keep the game running – RIP Anthem - I really wanted to purchase you :(

E3 2021 may be digital as ESA says it’s ‘transforming’ the gaming showcase
