The classic Universal monsters. Dracula, The Mummy, The Wolfman, Frankenstein's Monster, The Gillman, The Bride of Frankenstein. If you mention any of these names to a horror fan, they conjure up amazing memories of classic moments in horror cinema history. The dark, tragic, romantic, Gothic, sometimes sexy, and always horrifying imagery of those films has stood the test of time.
However, like everything in Hollywood these days, Universal decided that the original monsters needed a facelift. Enter The Dark Universe. Universal's attempt to bring the classics into the present for a new generation, while hopefully paying attention to the basic needs of the classic fans.... right? Not Quite.
This week we grabbed some Magic Hat Number #9 "Not Quite Pale Ale", and looked at Universal's two attempts at kickstarting a new universe of terror.
