I've known of Hill People Gear for a number of years. In fact, they were one of the first companies I came across when searching for new and interesting brands outside of what you see in big box stores. I own a few of their products and always find myself visiting their website time and again to see what they're up to.

To say I was excited to have founder, Evan Hill, join me on the podcast to talk about his company is an understatement. It's honestly an honor and incredibly humbling to spend an hour talking with people like Evan because it's not every day you can pick the brains of someone who knows a thing or two about pack design.

On this episode of The By Land Podcast, Evan talks about the origin of Hill People Gear, the design principles, and his background with backcountry travel. He also gives a number of solid bits of advice to backpackers.
