Gordon Hynes made his league debut in round 2 of 1963 and by season’s end he was a premiership player as the Cats captured their sixth flag with a 49-point defeat of Hawthorn. Gordon continued with Geelong for a further five seasons chalking up 61 games in total and booting 52 goals. After leaving the Cats at just 24 he went on to become a legend in local football circles leading North Shore to six premierships between 1974 and 1983. That was part of 12 successive seasons of finals football for the Seagulls under the Hynes' regime. No stranger to individual success, Gordon won 11 best and fairest awards between ’62 and ’79.
