In late January 2018, a train carrying about 10 million pounds of human excrement from New York City stopped in the small town of Parrish, Louisiana with 982 residents. From the day it got there, residents noticed. Due to an injunction from the nearby town of West Jefferson, arguing in court earlier in the year that the loading and unloading of containers violated its zoning laws, the train sat for over 2 months in Parrish, disrupting the lives of everyone in town. Dubbed "The Poop Train", it was the butt of many jokes, except to the residents where the human waste baked in the hot, southern sun.
