As you start building or refreshing your CRA program, these internal documents can serve as a guiding light. Gather these core documents and make sure you revisit them often as you initiate new programs and build your CRA culture throughout the bank.

1. Institution’s Strategic Plan & Goals
2. Marketing Plan and Activities
3. CRA Plan & Goals
4. CRA Self-Assessment
5. CRA Policies and Procedures

Make sure you know what your bank’s core strategy priorities are for the year and make sure that all CRA programmatic documents fall under this umbrella of strategy to ensure aligned impact.

Quotes
• “Look at your bank’s strategic plan. We may not always have access to the paper plan, but ask executive management, ‘What are some of the key priorities and strategies that we’re focusing on as a bank as a whole?’ Because then that’s your umbrella.” (1:53-2:11)

• “A CRA Self-Assessment is foundational because you never want the examiners to actually have to mine that information and tell you how well you’re doing. You should always tell them, and the Self-Assessment is the vehicle to do so.” (2:50-3:05)

• “So you take all of those steps under the large bank umbrella to run your CRA program with intent and a strategic perspective.” (3:28-3:38)
