Scripture reference:  Jeremiah 18:1-6

Message preached by Pastor Clarence Jackson

Sermon notes

1) God told Jeremiah to go to the Potter's House, but didn't tell him the direction.  In other words, Jeremiah already knew where to find the word of the LORD.  In most circumstances we already know where to find the word of the LORD, but we have to decide that we're going to obediently go there.

2) Jeremiah went "down" to the Potter's House.  Going down is required at times because going down puts us in a position of humility before God.  Going down isn't popular but it is necessary for God to elevate us.  The further we're willing to go down the more God will raise us up.

3) The Potter's House is a messy place.  God has to take us to a place that is dirty, messy, and full of broken pieces, but anywhere where there are broken pieces is a place where God can make a new thing according to his will.  We have to have a potter's house experience where we've been broken, messed up and in a state of disrepair/total surrender to God for Him to fix is.

4) The potter worked on flawed clay as Jeremiah watched, but Jeremiah watched long enough for the potter to fix it.  The potter turned the original vessel and turned it into something completely different and new.  If we're obedient and patient to wait on God, He will make us over with broken pieces not to repair us as it we were, but always to do a new and better thing in us according to His will.
