Hebrews 6:18–19 (NLT) So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. 19 This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.

The capacity for hope is the most significant fact of life. It provided human beings with a sense of destination and the energy to get started.

Norman Cousins

One of the candles of advent represents hope. Hope is a powerful force that we use every day to walk us through the perplexing times in our lives. It is the force of hope that allows us to hang on through the night and believe that Joy is coming in the morning. To believe that for our sadness, Christ will give us gladness, and that for our mourning, Christ will turn that into dancing. Hope does deal with the future and it place it allows us to believe that things will change. Our scripture verse states  hope is what we hold to and it anchors our souls (mind, will, emotions) through the difficult times in our lives. But not only does it hold us through the storms, hope is our guide into the presence of the Almighty.

Focus on the strength and stability that Christ brought to the world and to our lives individually through the hope His life gives.
