“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.”

― Bernard M. Baruch

One of the most significant steps toward allowing yourself to move past the expectations of others and find your authentic life is recognizing the truth that you are designed and created by God. Though our family, cultural and religious influences play a huge role in influencing who we become, we must be at peace with who we are at our core, as that person was created by someone much more significant than you and I.

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it. Psalms 139:14 (NLT)

With the understanding that our core person was designed and created by a source outside of family, culture, and religion we should learn to embrace our individuality. We are complex, unique individuals with specific identifiers that make us wonderfully distinct from anyone else in the world.

Too much emphasis is placed on people in general and religious people specifically to conform to someone else’s idea of acceptable and normal. This concept is off base and best, and at worst is an insult to the God who created us. We should not all look the same, act the same, dress the same or express the same ideas, beliefs, and opinions. A look at the unique individuality in nature, even within species will show the vast imagination of our creator when we were designed. Another example in nature is the fact that no two snow flakes are identical, but each has it’s own character and design

Come to peace with who you are, just BE and lean into God who created you and only attempt to conform to who your creator would have you be.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
