Jesus Christ reveals, not an embarrassed God, not a confused God, not a God who stands apart from the problems, but One who stands in the thick of the whole thing with man.

Hebrews 1:1-2 The Message

Going through a long line of prophets, God has been addressing our ancestors in different ways for centuries. Recently he spoke to us directly through his Son. By his Son, God created the world in the beginning, and it will all belong to the Son at the end. This Son perfectly mirrors God and is stamped with God’s nature.

The story of humankind shows the many examples of man's attempts to comprehend and explain God. Shrouded in mystery for generations, the explanations of God and worship rituals are as varied as the many cultures that make up humanity. A study of religion shows some common themes and similar contradictions, all having the flavor of the group proclaiming God at the moment.

For me, the many prophecies surrounding Christ are consistent. They span thousands of years, and they find their fulfillment in the man Christ Jesus. There are common themes that deal with redemption, acceptable living and worship rituals of the Hebrew nation. Three of the world's major religions all find their heritage within the writings of what we know as the Old Testament. Most significantly, what the Old Testament proclaims is the coming of a messiah, a savior, and a direct connection to the God of creation.

A look at the prophecies surrounding Christ shows that He would be God revealed to humanity. I believe that this is the most compelling and persuasive wittiness to the truth about God. The writer of Hebrews declares Christ to be the expression of God's person and nature. Paul says Christ to be the image of the invisible God. Jesus himself declares I am the way, the truth, and the life. What I believe He was saying was He was the way to God, the truth about God and the Life of God revealed to mankind.

For today's devotion, I want to propose that when you look at Christ, you are visibly seeing the creator of heaven and earth. In Christ, we see how God would speak, respond to, and interact with the various examples of the human condition. I would encourage you that you need not mix any other religious view of God with Christ. Rather confidently know that in Christ alone can see the fullness and full expression of God. What this can do for you and me is free us from the opinions of others and release us just to be followers of Jesus, who is the full expression of God. In His words, we find forgiveness, mercy, compassion, pardon, direction, and life itself.
