Navigating Hindrances to an Authentic Life - a podcast by David K Payne

In our efforts to pursue an authentic life, regarding our personal relationships with God, it is essential to be mindful of some of the hindrances to our growth. One such impediment is the erroneous misconception that the church is a building, organization or place we go, instead of the reality that we as individuals make up the whole of what is the church.

This is important because when we only view the church as a place we go, we begin to aspire to fit in and achieve what whoever oversees the organization or venue we go determines is a priority for the group. As we direct our attention to the group’s goals, vision and mission, we begin to detract from anything that God would have as a priority of our lives. From how we walk out our day to day lives, to how we give of our time resources and talents, to how we worship all becomes dictated from a source other than from within ourselves. In this way, the expression of our lives is not authentic and quickly becomes strained and even false. This is a tragedy because we cheat ourselves and others from the good that would come from a genuine expression of our lives, and we find our personal growth stalled as we pursue life expressions that were never intended to be ours.

God designed each of us with unique personal and spiritual DNA that flourishes when nurtured and developed throughout our lives. Church when only seen as something you attend becomes a more significant hindrance than a benefit. We become codependent on others, and the stage is set for all types of abuses that we take a lifetime to gain deliverance from.  Change your perspective from going to church, to being the church, and you will be astounded at the liberty and growth that begins to flood your life. You may not gain the approval of men, but you will find your life flourishing under the inspiration and direction of the Spirit. That overflow of life is what will make you effective in all aspects of your life expression.
