Matthew 3:1–3 (NLT) In those days John the Baptist came to the Judean wilderness and began preaching. His message was, 2 “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” 3 The prophet Isaiah was speaking about John when he said, “He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming! Clear the road for him!’ ”

Fire of Advent

Advent, like its cousin Lent, is a season for prayer and reformation of our hearts. Since it comes at winter time, fire is a fitting sign to help us celebrate Advent....If Christ is to come more fully into our lives this Christmas, if God is to become really incarnate for us, then fire will have ot b e present in our prayer. Our worship and devotion will have to stoke the kind of fire in our souls that  can truly change our hearts. Our is a great responsibility not to waste this Advent time.

Edward Hays, A Pilgrim's Almanac, p. 187

As we enter this advent season I am reminded of the words of the Christmas song that says, Let every heart prepare Him room. Now is a time for us to prepare our hearts for the coming of the Lord. Though it is just symbolic, can we allow the fire of the Holy Spirit to burn away the clutter of the year and truly prepare our hearts to receive Christ afresh in our hearts during this season.

May you live mindfully throughout this next month... Let us be mindful of the hope, the joy, and the love Christ brings to your life. May you live this next month in great expectation of Christ and begin today by preparing your hearts to receive Him.

Just Be

David
