Psalm 107:10-16 (NLT)Some sat in darkness and deepest gloom, imprisoned in iron chains of misery. 11 They rebelled against the words of God, scorning the counsel of the Most High. 12 That is why he broke them with hard labor; they fell, and no one was there to help them. 13 “Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. 14 He led them from the darkness and deepest gloom; he snapped their chains. 15 Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. 16 For he broke down their prison gates of bronze; he cut apart their bars of iron.

"A creature revolting against a creator is revolting against the source of his own powers--including even his power to revolt. It is like the scent of a flower trying to destroy the flower."

C.S. Lewis

Consider the many times you have rebelled against God or God's authority in your life. The times when you have declared I will go my own way, I will make my own decisions and I do not care what anyone has to say about it. Now think about the many times this attitude has gotten you into trouble and as you sat hopeless, you remembered God,  and then call to mind how God rescued you and brought you out of, or sustained you through the consequences of your decisions. Remember the Prodigal Son, who took his inheritance, wasted it and found himself in the hog pen, broke, alone and hungry... It was then he remembered his father's house and determined to return home. The story ends with the father welcoming the son home and restoring him to full position in the father's house.

Today is a good day to give thanks to Lord for His mercy  and grace that is always new every morning. Be thankful for the times your heavenly Father has rescued you from yourself and tell someone of His love and care.

Blessings

David
