“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”
― Robert Frost

In his book entitled The Road Less Traveled, Scott M. Peck discusses the struggles of resisting the pressures of society, religion, and family that hinder us from overcoming the challenges in our lives. Too many times we end up compromising who we could become and selling out and just coping instead of walking a difficult path to becoming what we were created to be. Life will be a continual journey that we (that’s you and I) must navigate for ourselves. Many times, if we are authentic, that road will lead us on a path that very few are walking. It is so much easier just to conform or give in or give up and not try and develop our lives, our giftings and our talents on our terms.

As many of you know, I was in full-time ministry for almost 30 years of my life. So many times, during my ministry I found myself, not leading as I felt I should but rather leading as I knew others expected, and you know you must have others to survive. LOL! I laugh, but sadly we live that way throughout our lives in general. We compromise who we are, so others think we are not compromising. The irony is that all the while are leading others to believe we are not compromising, we are the biggest compromisers of all because we are not being true to our path, or our calling and to the person God intended for us to be. I have recently begun doing regular ministry again, and already the voices are starting to speak and question what or how I am doing it. They say well people will expect, or you know if you are doing an excellent job at this level don’t you think you need to take things to this level. My prayer is God help me be true to who I know I am and stay on the path God put in my heart, even if it is the road less traveled.

Over the next few blogs, I want to challenge you to commit wholeheartedly to following your heart in how you deal with your children, navigate your relationship, conduct your business affairs, react to challenges. Allow yourself to be genuine in how you deal with the extremities of life.  Focus on not giving up or giving in to the pressures you feel from the past and others. Accept the love of God and allow that love to be the fuel that gives you the energy to walk your path.

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Ephesians 3:19 NLT
