Abington Police Chief Patrick Molloy returns to the Dom Giordano Program to respond to comments made by Governor Tom Wolf about police officers when announcing Juneteenth as an official state holiday in Pennsylvania. In the announcement, Wolf wrote “Juneteenth is a celebration of the progress we have made as a nation towards equality and justice for all. Sadly, the continued death of African Americans at the hands of police … are painful reminders that racism and intolerance are still with us today.” Molloy explains that, for him, it was difficult to listen to the words from the Governor, particularly due to the impact that his sentiment has on recruitment. Molloy notes that they’re having difficulty attracting and recruiting officers, particularly good ones, and words like those from the Governor do nothing to help the situation.
