Another show stopping, jaw dropping, electrifying week as Alan dedicates this weeks episode to the 2021 Monterey Car Show at the Concours.  From the very first electric automobile to space aged just short of the “Jetsons” automobile.  Joining Alan first is Ed Justice Jr. – Justice Brothers, Inc. President and CEO. Ed who also emceed at the Carmel by the Sea Concours on the Avenue talks with Alan about the protocols regarding covid at the event.  If you had proof that you took your shot, you were given a blue arm band to wear, if you did not take the vaccine then you were asked to wear a mask. Ed explains how difficult it is to judge cars.  You can’t prejudge things, got to go through the process from checking under the hood to finding the story behind the restoration.  Amazing cars like a 1901 Columbia Mark XXXI Victoria Phaeton Electric Car.  Ed says one of the things that was different this year at the event was the fact that it was free to get in.  Ed says he spoke to a lot of people and received a lot of positive feedback saying the Concours on the Avenue was their favorite event. From a safe environment to being laid-back, high-end stores to gift shops.  There’s something for everybody.  Ed says Monterey Car week has turned into such a huge event, that you can’t do it all.  Alan shares that he and his wife Jan went to Pebble Beach when it was still dark to be a part of the “Dawn Patrol”, to catch the cars as they come rumbling in.  Next on Alans’s show is George Kennedy III – Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report. George talks about the Larz Anderson Auto Museum electric vehicles, one being the 1908 Bailey Electric Victoria Phaeton.  Preserved and unrestored. George attended the Tutto Italiano (Everything Italian), crown jewel of the summer series of lawn events in car shows at Larz Anderson.  All Italian cars. Ferrari, Lamborghini to Fiat Dinos. The New York Auto show that was canceled is their next topic.  George says canceling the show is not stopping the car makers from debuting their new cars online. Up next with Alan is Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror and board member. Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com and Executive Publisher at CarExpert.com.  More of the Monterey Car Week conversation.  Karl and Alan talk about Christian Von Koenigsegg CEO of a high-end limited production brand automaker, who was there at Pebble Beach.  He was showing off his car the Gemera, Swedish for “More, or offering more” …2 door but 4-seater, 0 to 60 in 1.9 seconds with a top speed of 250 mph. Alan quickly drops in with the fact that the Hennessey Venom F5, does a cool 300mph.  Karl was there to see the Acura reception for the Acura NSX Type S, they announced 2022 will be their last year for the NSX.  They also said they are bringing back the Integra. Back to the New York Auto Show being canceled yet still happening, virtually that is like Nissan revealing its New Z car.  Alan and Karl switch over to one of Alan’s favorites, the Aston Martin. Karl spoke with Tobias Moers who used to run AMG, now CEO and CTO of Aston Martin. They showed their Valkyrie Spider convertible with 1140 horsepower, V12, and a hybrid drivetrain.  Only 85 will be made and that’s it.  Karl loved the new Lamborghini Countach.  All the performance, capability, and technology of the modern supercars yet kept the Countach look.  Only 112 made and all spoken for.  Karl drove Ford’s new GT over the weekend as well. They discus Stephen Winklmann, he introduced the new Countach and the BUGATTI Bolide. This crazy car, it’s not street legal.  A skeletal body to make it lighter.   1578 horsepower, pulling 3200lbs @ $4.8 million dollars.  Only 40 are made.  Frank Heyl, head designer of Boulghadi walked around with Karl at the event.
