2021.07.08 Sampled&ED Thursdays with Dan Lloyd - a podcast by Danno
from 2021-07-08T20:01
As broadcast July 8, 2021 with bonus beats for you podcast measurers. We pay one week overdue tribute to "Stakes Is High," a landmark album released by De La Soul last week in 1996. An album whose reverberations can still be very felt today, we rocked some beats & lo-fi stuff for the entirety of part 1. In the 2nd half of our Sampled funk & soul first hour, we marked this date in 1972 when "Lean On Me" by Bill Withers went to #1, and got a couple of new joints from Izo Fitzroy & Lady Wray in, then finished with a couple Ethiojazz & Zambian soul classics from the 1970's. Dan Lloyd joined us after the jump and with pickins pretty slim due to the 4th of July holiday in the US, he also went with a few new cuts while also going through some tunes that he did not play on the show just due to the volume of stuff coming out, especially in May & June.
