2021.09.02 Sampled&ED Thursdays with Dan Lloyd - a podcast by Danno
from 2021-09-02T20:03:51
As broadcast September 2, 2021 with plenty of extra echoes on that dub for you podcast surfers. Tonight we pay tribute with the entirety of our first quarter of the show, remembering a legend on the mic & in the booth, who not only changed reggae & dub forever, but far beyond those as well. Lee "Scratch" Perry passed away on Sunday aged 85, and one in that amount of years could hardly have more influence than The Upsetter. After that, we have a good amount of new funk & soul to get through with a remix from Prefuse 73, a live version from Hojean, and a pretty amazing bit of afrobeat from Common as well! For our 2nd hour AMPED rock feature, there are some blistering tunes to go through as well, with Turnstile out with their colossus of an album, IDLES covering Metallica, and Halsey teaming up with Trent Reznor on her new album which is also cracking stuff.
