As broadcast January 19, 2022 with plenty of extra years in the rearview for you Egyptologist pod travelers.  Tonight we mark 10 years since the release of the Academy Award-winning debut of "Searching for Sugar Man" at the Sundance Film Festival.  Sixto Rodriguez has always kept a low profile, doing his own thing musically from home base in Detroit, but somehow his music became absolutely huge in South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.  After the opening, we took a trip to Egypt for our weekly Round Trip with Lizz Kalo, focusing on some of the gems from Habibi Funk for most of part 1, and giving some airtime to the likes of Maryam Saleh, Dina El Wedidi, and Marwan Moussa amongst others.  An inspiring trip to one of the world's great countries, Egypt's music is truly a remarkable bit of exploration!
