What God is presenting in this text of scripture is "The Epic Life" - it's about being a part of the great work of God. We tend to fall back into a good, moral, ethical life and fall back into the things of the world.

Nothing brings value but the great commission God has called us to. There is nothing wrong with what we have in the world, but in and of themselves, these things do not bring us satisfaction

We want to be about loving God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength, and we want to be about loving other people, unbeliever and believer alike, in the same way that God loves us. The third thing is that we want to be a part of the Great Commission, this great calling: and this great calling is what adds texture to our life: adds significance and gives us an understanding of what's really meaningful.
