Hey y’all,

The career of a filmmaker is an interesting thing. Some are like one hit wonders. They make something great and vanish. But some endure.

One of America’s most prolific directors, Steven Spielberg has been working for almost 50 years, defining part of America’s zeitgeist with massive blockbusters and sweeping historical epics. But how did we get here?

All month long, we’ll be reviewing Spielberg’s work, and this week is his first domestic theatrical release. Today we are reviewing The Sugarland Express, followed by a discussion on the film’s legacy. We also discuss the current awards season, and how Spielberg fits into the current awards race.

Thanks as always for listening and be sure to check out last week’s episode.

Enjoy y’all,
